Eco-Friendly Ganesh Workshop

Indian Women Scientists’ (IWSA), organised Eco friendly Ganesh idol making workshop on Saturday, 7th September, 2013 at its “ICICI” Multipurpose Hall.
People from varied age groups, teachers and students from different schools and NGOs in Navi Mumbai participated in this workshop.  Approximately 110 people attended.
The workshop, emphasised on the need to be environment friendly and encouraged the use of eco friendly materials, clay, natural colours, use of fresh flowers, fallen leaves etc.
Their policy of Go Green in Recycle, Reduce, Reuse & Refuse
Recycle – Through the use of Clay or Shadoo
Reduce – Size of Ganesh idol
Reuse – Crystal, wooden or Brass idol.
Refuse – Use of Plastic / Thermocol Loud music
Ms. Vaishali Patil from ETC, the paper pulp expert and Ashwini Jawale from “Vidya Margam” -  the clay expert along with the IWSA teachers Ms. Snehalata Bhavsar, Ms. Shaheena Shaikh and Ms. Manisha Chand helped the participants in making various forms of Ganesh.
This workshop is conducted mainly to create an awareness of the advantages of making and using Eco-friendly Ganpati.
Eco friendly Ganesh disintegrates immediately, forms sediment and can be used for potting plats.
