Her basic degree was BSc, then on she obtained a diploma in journalism and worked as a journalist for some time. She loved science and after founding Indian Women Scientists’ Association, she was dedicated to its goals of spreading science. She was a close associate of Dr. Shantoo Gurnani and with her guidance, Vidya was the first editor of IWSA Newsletter and encouraged others to contribute to its content. She made sure that the Newsletter was very interesting by covering different topics. She was an executive committee member and held several other positions at IWSA. She had a critical and a highly rational mindset and did not hesitate to speak her mind without mincing any words.  Later, she would occasionally visit IWSA and take interest in its activities. Till the last days, she was dedicated to spreading scientific culture.
