One of the major problems faced by working women is the care of their children while they are at work. With the objective of providing a clean, comfortable environment and good care of their children, IWSA started its Day Care Centre (DCC) in 1988. The Day Care Centre (DCC) is named after Ms. G. M. ABHYANKAR.

This facility caters to children, thus helping working mothers. The children are looked after by well-trained supervisors and assistants under the guidance of IWSA members of the DCC Committee. Besides the love and care showered on the kids, there is an annual dental and health check-up, celebration of different Indian customs and festivals, training in arts, crafts and reading/writing, annual picnic/field visits and regular meeting with parents.

Salient Features:

Age Group : 6 months to 10 years for boys and upto 13 years for girls.

Timing : 7.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. on all week days, except on Sundays and public holidays.

Staff: Three trained supervisors manage the Centre along with seven assistants.

Facilities: 

The Centre has a large and well ventilated room for children and a small kitchenette, provided with a microwave and a refrigerator.  An aqua guard provides safe drinking water. Adequate clean sleeping mattresses and linen are provided.  A separate toilet block suitable for children is available.

The Centre has an open courtyard with play equipments. Educational toys and a library for different age groups are provided.

Extra facility–on payment–for taking children to and from the Day Care Center and nearby schools is provided.

Meetings between parents and management are held at regular intervals.

Skills of staff members are constantly upgraded; they are exposed to lectures in child development by experts in the area.
